"Seabourne' Is Magic!!!"
My family, including my teenage daughter, 11 year old son, my husband and I came to Nova Scotia to visit friends in Chester. We had seen Seabourne on the web-site, and when we arrived it was even better than the lovely photos. The home is immaculate, warm and inviting. The property is magnificent, expansive yet intimate, overlooking a large and deep cove where sometimes whales come in. The private dock is charming, with bench seats where we enjoyed cocktails with our friends. The first night we were there, the sky was so breathtaking that we put a blanket on the lawn to lie down and stare at the seemingly endless galaxies.
The setting is very private and quiet, and I was concerned that the kids would get restless or bored. Instead, they were enchanted. They each had their own large and comfortable space, almost like their own apartment upstairs, and they were so content to stay there, take a walk around the property, read, watch movies, play games or just relax on the balcony.
We did go to Chester quite a bit, and the drive along the southern coast is beautiful, as is driving into Hubbards - like going back in time. We also toured Lunenburg and Halifax - also easy to get to and worth the trip.
It took us two days to reach Nova Scotia, and when we arrived it was as if Seabourne cast a spell on us - a warm welcome into a magical cocoon that we didn't want to leave. That's why we're coming back in August!

Seabourne is an astonishing property -- it's really private and sits fairly high on a bluff overlooking a cove of the Atlantic. We fell asleep listening to the waves lapping against the rocks. From the upstairs master bedroom balcony, we watched little lobster boats chugging into our cove several mornings and local lobstermen collecting their catch. The house is very clean and well-maintained and comfortably furnished. Although the kitchen is not fancy, the appliances work just fine and the kitchen is well-stocked (it even had a lobster pot and a nice coffemaker!) There is a huge veranda on the main level overlooking the water with a good-size grill, Adirondack chairs, and a table and chairs. Every day of our stay -- sometimes every hour -- the weather was different. The morning might start out with a thick fog over the water -- and then the sun would break through and the change was amazing. This is a great place for a family to visit -- lots of bedrooms and pullout sofas and three full bathrooms. Plus, there's a lot to do nearby and Sally, the property manager, was helpful with suggestions. The drive along St. Margaret's Bay to Chester is beautiful. Chester has plenty of shops, a good bakery and restaurants that serve fresh seafood and other local fare. Halifax is a great place to tour museums or shop and less than an hour away. One rainy afternoon, we just watched movies on the VCR at the house. Make sure to allow some extra time to get to the airport -- especially if it's foggy and you have an early flight. I would definitely recommend this property to families or couples. It's a great place to get to know the South Shore of Nova Scotia.
